Engine Rebuilders Council: A Brief History |
The Engine Rebuilders Council is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating consumers about the economic and environmental benefits of rebuilt - remanufactured engines.
ERC was formed in 1999 by a group of automotive industry leaders in response to the growing concern among professional engine rebuilders that many consumers do not understand the cost savings, performance and environmental benefits of repowering a worn out used engine. These concerns were supported by a motorist survey showing that nearly 74 percent of consumers were not aware of this alternative.
ERC is described as "an industry alliance for consumer awareness," but the ERC is also active in promoting economic and ecologically intelligent solutions to problems associated with major engine repair and/or failure.
